I got a great question the other day from my brother: “Why do we celebrate New Years? It’s just another day,” and I honestly couldn’t answer. Why do we celebrate? Yes I know it is celebrating the last day of the Gregorian calendar and to say goodbye to the new year but when you really look at it, it is an opportunity to start over.
And no I don’t mean start over financially or with a clean slate, but starting over mentally and emotionally. I realized that when you have a deadline or goal to finish what you need to do or just make it to that point it gives life just a bit more of purpose.
Although you felt like you didn’t have such a successful or eventful year as you thought you would, the point is that you made it through the new year safe! Starting a New Year gives you an opportunity to start your mindset over to beginning new and better habits.
If we didn’t celebrate a New Years, our days, months, and years will just feel like an endless cycle that cannot be broken, so as the New Years comes put to bed any negative behaviors or habits to bed and prepare for a bigger and better new year.
